Unicaja 81-86 FC Barcelona: Authoritarian victory

The 19th win of the regular season comes on the road in Malaga

A tight game on Sunday ended in a win at Unicaja that leaves the Catalans second in the table and matched for win with Real Madrid. Satoransky and Laprovittola led the Barça scoring with 16 points each.

Malagan impetus

The Martín Carpena is never an easy place to go and the home side were very much the dominant force early on, building up an 8-point lead in a first period in which Barça just couldn't get into their rhythm at all. And although Barça's 7-0 streak to open the second period appeared to have changed the whole dynamic of the game, Malaga responded. They were soon eight ahead again, and the margin could have been much wider had it not been for a fabulous quarter from Nico Laprovittola. It would eventually be 39-35 at the break.

Better and better

A Mirotic three no sooner had the game resumed threw Barça right back into the game. The men in blaugrana were a completely different thing now, and took the lead and extended it to six. But Unicaja didn't let the change in the status quo get to them and there was a gripping final period in store.

Barça were able to keep their lead, but Malaga were always knocking on the door. It was intense, it was physical and nothing was decided until the very last seconds. Barça managed to hold on by the skin of their teeth, eventually taking it 81-86.
