Barça Lassa went down to defeat away from home at Porto by the only goal of the game in the third round of the European League. This reverse marks the team’s first defeat this season in European competition and ends a run of two years without a loss. It was the same Portuguese side who inflicted the last defeat on Ricard Muñoz’s team.

In difficult circumstances in the Pavilhão Fânzeres, a poorly surfaced court and a hostile crowd, the blaugranes held their own for much of the contest, only to be defeated by a fourth minute goal from former Barça player Reinaldo Garcia. Panadero struck the crossbar and Barroso came close to levelling things up in the first half but at the break Porto went in with the advantage.

In the second half Pablo Álvarez had the best chance for Barça but Porto keeper Filipe was equal to the task. The home side held on for the win which places them at the top of Group A, three points ahead of FC Barcelona Lassa with three games still to play in the initial group phase.
