2015/16 Endesa League is officially unveiled

FC Barcelona Lassa's Juan Carlos Navarro and coach Xavi Pascual attend the event at Endesa headquarters in Madrid

The 2015/16 basketball season left the starting blocks on Tuesday at 12.00pm with the official presentation of the Liga ACB (Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto), also known as the Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons. The event was attended by FC Barcelona Lassa captain Juan Carlos Navarro, head coach Xavi Pascual and Technical Secretary Joan Creus.

Both Pascual and Navarro actively participated in the presentation that included two round tables with other coaches and players. Most of those in attendance were quick to recognise that Barça Lassa and Real Madrid are once again the favourites.

Navarro took the time to highlight the improvement in the general level of play in the league.

"It's improving physically, as well as in terms of scouting, because every year there are better players coming," he said, while stressing that "no games are easy. If you aren't careful, any team can win."

Pascual looked at the level of competitiveness this season, and idea he shared with his captain.

"Any team can beat you and that gives extra motivation every day."

Pascual fielded an interesting question about what he thought was the most complicated part of a season. The coach admitted that at "a big club the most difficult is the week after a defeat as you try to avoid a second loss that could turn into a crisis."

Special Super Cup mention

The presentation also highlighted FC Barcelona Lassa’s victory in the Endesa Super Cup, which Pascual acknowledged was extra special after having not won any titles last season. The directors of the league talked about the high level of play at the Super Cup as a sign of what to expect throughout the coming season.
