Unicaja v FC Barcelona: On the right track (61-77)

The victory in Malaga extends Barça’s unbeaten run in the Top 16 and puts them in a great position to win the group Nachbar put in a star performance with 16 points for a Barça side that led from the start

[[DES_1]]Eleven games, eleven victories.  FC Barcelona enjoyed a comfortable win against Unicaja Malaga on Friday and confirmed their candidacy to finish top of group E.

Three-pointers from Navarro, Papanikolaou and Abrines in the first quarter helped Barça take an eight-point lead early on and even a temporary foot injury to Ante Tomic did little to throw Barça off their game.

Tomic comes back stronger

The Croat was back in action in the second quarter and Barça maintained a six-point lead at the break.  Within four minutes of the third quarter, a three-pointer from Marcelinho widened the gap to 14 points.

Unicaja hit back with 8 points without reply but by the end of the third quarter, Barça still led by seven points.

Malaga fade

The home side couldn’t maintain their fight back and Barça opened up a 20-point margin at one stage in the last quarter.  The next match in the Endesa league is against Gipuzkoa Basket (Sunday 23rd, 12.00 pm).

Xavi Pascual: "We played well defensively"

After the game, coach Xavi Pascual told reporters, “We’re on a good run but this win will quickly fade into the past and what we’re interested in is the future.  In 36 hours we have another game”.

Erazem Lorbek also referred to the next game, “It’s going to be a tough game against a team with a lot of experience.  We’ll have to play well”.
